This module covers each of the key process sections from chute to stack and must be completed in sequence. Once completed the user is free to scroll back and forth through the module to refresh their learning.

The main purpose of the module is to provide an overview of common operational issues in energy-from-waste (EfW) and biomass facilities. Focusing  specifically on gas-side systems and their interactions with solid residues (ash, unburned materials) in order to support troubleshooting and optimisation and improve efficiency, reliability, and compliance.

Key Process Areas

EfW systems integrate multiple engineering and environmental processes:

  •     Waste reception & handling
  •     Combustion
  •     Energy recovery & utilisation
  •     Flue gas treatment
  •     Residue management
  •     Emissions monitoring & control
  •     Power generation
